After the Storm.... Sunshine !

Wow, we are still in shock that Rita missed us! The ENTIRE time the eye is heading right at us and within less than 24 hours ( I think it was about 12 hours) it turns far enough East that all we get is wind and the wind was hardly anything.
My parents did get some pretty nasty stuff from it though. They are in Baton Rouge as most of you already know. They had winds at 75mph and higher. They have been without electricity for almost 24 hours now but they have a generator which is good. So at least they had that.
It's kinda crazy because it's like a ghost town around here. Not a single store in this town is open. No one here. I would say at least 75 - 80 % of the town evacuated.
Strange but it's almost peaceful here. No loud cars, no traffic, no noise and not a lot of activity. I am enjoying it while I can. I just hope everything is back up and running on Monday, I cant imagine why it wouldnt be.
I feel bad for all the people that evacuated. They had it worse. 11 hours to go just 30 miles and thats no exaggeration! How crazy is that??
We were contacted about doing a big Benefit for the Hurricane Victims for both Katrina and Rita. I am not sure on the specifics of it right now though.
Tomorrow I am going to update all of you on the GOOD stuff that has been going on. It's about 5:30am right now so I just dont have the engery or brain strength to do it now.
We are going to be closing down this blog and starting a new one REAL soon. Maybe even tomorrow. This one will still be left up of course but we wont be updating this one.
I will post the new Blog when it is up and running.
The big suprise is why we are changing it!

Here we go again

Ok we are leaving early in the morning. We have some stuff packed up but there is no way we are going to be able to get all of our band equipment!
All the gas stations are sold out. Luckily we filled up last night!
We had the hardest time finding a place to go. We found a hotel some where out in BFE, that has no internet connection. So I think we might do the updates by the voice blog.
We are taking all the animals with us. No way we can leave them behind. I wouldnt be able to live with myself.
Gina has been crying non stop because we have to leave all our band stuff. I just keep trying to remind myself that we can HOPEFULLY replace everything in time if everything gets ruined.
I pray it does not come to that.
All these hurricanes have really put us in the hole. Its so pathetic. I guess we can all thank Global Warming huh!
There is so much we want to tell you guys but there just isnt time.
Hopefully all this will pass and we will be okay, hopefully our house will be here when we get back.
You all have been so great. Sorry for the lack of updating, we have just been going through SO much crap here lately, its like it is never ending.
Alright its almost 3am and we need sleep. So much to do before we leave.

Another Hurricane

Hey everyone
We just got home from Louisiana. We got caught in the hurricane there only to come home to have to run from this new one! "Rita"
Rita is supposed to be worse than Katrina and we all saw what that did.
We are only 30 mins from the Coast and from what it looks like we are going to get the eye of it.
We spent the day packing up the things that we could. Tomorrow we will "try" to get all of the band equipment that we can. We have insurance on our house but not "contents" insurance. So we HAVE to get what we can.
Wouldnt it be nice if we could post some Good News! lol
We are watching this Hurricane very close. If it continues on it's path like it is then we are leaving Thursday morning.
I pray that it takes a turn to the East. I don't want this storm to hit anyone though. I wish it would just disapear out in the Gulf!
I seriously doubt we will be able to stay here. They are talking about it possibly becoming a catagory 5 hurricane by the time it reaches us!
I hope to God that when we come back our house will be standing and exactly how we left it.
So PLEASE send out those Prayers!
We are near Matagorda county so be watching on the news for that area.
I Hope that everyone is well. We are taking the laptop with us so we will be updating you guys as soon as we can. Hope you are still out there checking this blog. There is a lot of new stuff going on with the band that I will write about when we get through this crazy storm.

A New Lead Guitarist?????

Hey everyone....
Things have been moving right along lately. Tomorrow we have a girl coming in from Dallas that is audtioning to be our Lead Guitarist! We are stoked about it!
We have been talking a lot on the phone with her, pretty much everyday just getting to know each other. We all click so far but you can never really know until you meet in person. She is a really kick ass guitarist and she really seems to understand our music and what we are going for. Plus she is REALLY excited about coming in and playing with us. If it works out, which we really believe that it will she said that she is more than willing to relocate here which is awesome!
She will be staying with us until Sunday. But I am sure by the first night we will know if we all gel together. I think that we will. For a long time we had basically given up on finding the perfect lead guitarist. Funny how things work out sometimes though. Poor Dillon will be the only guy in the band...lol
When she comes in we are all going to play together, see if she works out and then if she does we will start making plans for her to move here. Another cool thing about Kim is that she is also a lesbian, which rocks. She basically wants everything that we want.
As of right now it seems perfect...so now it just needs to actually fit together. (Crossing Fingers) We will update you ( the ones that still actually read this ) lol
On another note... I know that we dont get to update the blog like we used to and we are both really sorry about that. Sometimes real life stuff takes over.
We are going to record everything when she comes in so be sure to check back for some rehearsal recordings!!!

Everything is going well these days. I wish that we could blog more but it's hard finding the time to do so.
All in all it feels really good for things to start going right again!
In a previous post I told you all what happened to my Uncle, well I am thrilled to say that they caught everyone that was involved and they are currently in jail!
It wont bring him back but I am happy that they did not get away with anything.
I guess you have to take what you can get in these situations. Eye for an Eye is just not in my soul nor would I wish this on these men that did this.
I would rather them rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
Changing Subject *
I started playing poker again! It's going REALLY well too! Over $1,500 in one night. Not bad for a couple hours worth.

I'm glad Misty has been keeping you guys up to date on what's going on. We haven't even had time to really get online, much less keep up with the blog. I really hope everyone is doing well. I CAN'T WAIT to get started in the studio again. There's been so much drama around here lately and I'm so looking forward to pouring myself into some music. We were going to start today with the recording but Dillon had to work. Hopefully we can get it started tomorrow or Monday. I feel like we've improved so much even since the semi recording we put up on myspace.com. My voice feels better and everyone seems a bit more comfortable with their parts.

I'm always thinking about the grey areas surrounding being a "good person". It's really difficult to classify if you ask me. Here's my thoughts...

Happy 4th!!!!

Happy 4th everyone! Things are going better here. Thanks so much you guys, you are all so wonderful! I truly mean that!
Tomorrow we are going to the river house to pop Fireworks and have some good food. YAY!!
We got two new puppies, don't ask me why...lol Spur of the moment thing. We arent going to keep both of them though. TOO much trouble! lol The are so hyper! There are some new pictures on Flickr. I think we are going to keep Cooper. He is the one that is a little more laid back. Carly is so small but she thinks she is MIGHTY! We have two other dogs. Jasmine who is half Rottwieller, half Lab. She is about 125lbs. And then we have Deuce that is probably about 50lbs. Well, Carly thinks she can beat them up! It's HILARIOUS!!! You should she them right now. They are attacking Gina as I am writing this. I am staying out of the war zone for now... It won't last long.
Deuce is always playing with them and Jas basically just wants to be left alone.
I love animals. As crazy as it sounds.. I feel like I can relate to them a little better than humans! lol

We watched "Cursed" last night. We both REALLY liked it! If you havent seen it, you should watch it, but if you dont like it dont be mad...lol Tonight we are going to watch "Hostage". It got good reviews so I am sure we will like it.
Other than that I have been painting like crazy. I can't seem to stop. Which isnt a bad thing. It is keeping my mind off other things and it's also a really good release. If you have never picked up a paintbrush and a canvas..you really should one of these days. Even if you think you dont know how to paint, dont worry because it doesnt matter. Something wonderful can come out. It's really relaxing too. I got Amy to start painting and she has really been getting into it. She has never painted and she is creating some amazing stuff.

When it Rains it Pours.......~M~

Everytime I say that we are going to start blogging more something horrible happens so I am not saying it anymore.
Last week my Uncle died but it gets worse because he was murdered. Still hard to believe. The Funeral was yesterday. My Uncle and I were really close.
So much has been going on lately and I feel that I am at my breaking point. Can't handle much more.
We are going to start back up with rehearsals once again. I hope that we can actually start get this going again. There have been so many set backs. Dillon is finally back here and is just walking distance away yet we are still having set backs.
I think things are about to settle down now though. Once we get some rehearsals in we are going to start with the CD.
I have been keeping myself busy with stuff around the house and painting at night before sleep. Caught up on some much needed sleep today. About 10 hours worth!

So anyway we are getting ready to watch a movie "Cursed". Hope it's good. We rented "Hostage" with Bruce Willis and "Cursed" with Cristina Ricci.

Hey everyone ~M~

Hey guys,
I know we havent been keeping up with the blog as much lately but after this weekend we will be able to a lot more. After 3 days of sleep that is!! lol
At this point I feel like we need it!
Things are going really well right now. Still rehearsing pretty much every night. Gina's Amp went out last night though which REALLY sucks! We are going to have to take it in and get it fixed. Hopefully it will be something cheap! We have been fixing up the house and will put some pictures up soon.
We also have some other pictures we are going to put up from Gina's familys visit.
They are leaving in the morning. We are just going to hang out tonight and watch a movie or something.
We are getting ready to go out to dinner right now. So I am just sitting here waiting on everyone else to get ready. That's a change, most of the time everyone is waiting on me. :)

Bring On The Manual Labor ~G~

Well my mom and my brother, whom I haven't seen in over 2 years, are coming to stay with us for a week starting Monday. I have both really good and really nervous feelings about it. I'm definately excited to see them, however, both of them are practically non-sleepers (and never sleep past 9am even when "sleeping in") while M and I LOVE to sleep (usually into the afternoon) and both of them are extremely allergic to cats while we have a shit load of cats here.

So, we are frantically trying to get the house in order, deallergenizing (is that a word?) EVERYTHING from carpets to furnature (basically anything with fabric). We are also cleaning out our garage, which is incredibally crammed with 200 lb. speakers, a couch and chase, an extra washing machine that doesn't work, a pool table that we obviously can't use right now, and a king size bed that we don't use anymore. I think we are going to need a boy, unfortunately, to help us get all that crap out of there. I know Dillon will do anything for a few bucks. lol The whole purpose is to be able to put the cats in the garage during the day so they don't bother my mom.

Now, we smoke in the house here and my mom smokes, but the silly woman will not smoke indoors for anything. So we spent the majority of the day today setting up a really nice area on the back patio for her to have her cigs. M even went out and got some beautiful potted plants to put around the canope that covers the table and chairs we had been storing in the garage (yes, there is and was even more shit in the garage). Even though there are some really nice trees out back, the canope is a MUST in this 100+ degree heat.

Now that I'm really achy and sweaty and full of dirt and spider webs I'm just thinking about how the next 3-4 days are going to be just as fun. We still have SO much to do before they get here. We had to cancell rehearsals until Monday because of all the work ahead. I wish I could take comfort in the idea that once they get here we can finally relax, but I just don't see that happening. I'm hoping that they will just be so exhausted from all the travel that they will just want to crash for a couple days. I'm going to need a day or two to recoup. Sigh. I'm tired.

Bad News

I am really dreading writing this. I would rather just get it over with now though. Tomorrow at 8am we have to go up to the vet and put Skyler to sleep. He just isnt getting better so it's time to do it. The damage to his kidneys is just too bad for him to ever fully recover. We kinda knew it was going to come to this as the vet as been giving us updates for the past 2 days.
For all of you who were wishing him well, Thank you so much. It means more than you know. I really don't know what else to say.

I Dreamed About Alanis!! ~G~

Well we've had some good news and semi-bad news. The good news is that Dillon has decided to move back to town (he was living an hour away and never had gas money to get to rehearsals). Or, wait, is that good news? hmm. Actually he's living less than a block away now and can walk here if need be. So we can finally get everything started up again very shortly.

The semi-bad news is that Skyler has had a bit of a relapse but the vet did some tests and feels like she can help him. However, if we find that he has kidney damage we will have to put him to sleep. We're keeping our fingers crossed. It could be up to a couple of weeks before we know. Yesterday, Misty went up to the vet's office and said she could barely look at him because he looked so pitiful, but he sat up and purred when she walked in. He finally drank some water by himself, but he's still not eating. We're hoping to see a change in that soon. It looks like he may be there a while longer.

I had a dream last night that I hung out with Alanis Morissette. In my dream she was exactly like I remember seeing her in interviews, or on the VH1 special "Music in High Places", or on MTV's "Cribs"... very spiritual, happy and sweet. She drove me around in her car. It was really weird, but really cool. lol Then we drove off the highway into some woods and parked at a really beautiful pond. There I was supposed to get out and play some songs with her, and some for her, but I woke up when I stepped out of the car. I was a little mad when I woke up because I've always wondered what it would be like to jam with her. And I JUST missed my chance. lmao. Oh well, I'm prone to having reoccuring dreams that progress the more I have them... maybe this will be one like that. I sure as hell hope so.

The strangest thing about this dream is that I pretty much NEVER have dreams about celebrities. I might have had one about Angelina Jolie (who hasn't??) about a year or so ago (we won't discuss the details...lol), but other than that I really don't remember ever dreaming about a celebrity. Not to mention the fact that I haven't even really thought about Alanis here lately. I mean, yeah, I'm a huge fan. But my mind has been on other things. Very strange....but I loved it.

Oh I did have this dream one time about Lizzy McGuire - not even Hilary Duff. I fell asleep one night watching the Lizzy McGuire movie and ended up dreaming about being one of the stupid back up dancers at the end in the awards show. I had to rechoreograph their entire routine because I thought it sucked. Does that count as a dream about a celebrity? lol I don't think so. I think it has more to do with growing up in the dance world - competive dance (my mom was a dance teacher and choreographer until recently). I competed from the time I was VERY young until, like, 1999 or so. That's a whole other post and whole other life. Anyway, what a strange post this has become. lol I'm out.
